I was certain that the End of Days was going to prevent my finally having another New Yorker cover published, but in a case of divine non-intervention, I get to blag about it after all.
I really thought the 'gnome' a clever, witty & symbolic play on words and reference to 'genome' and the organic food producers' current battle with the deregulation of genetically altered foods. Was surprised to see by the title in The New Yorker's table of contents that I was indeed mistaken.
This stands out as one of the stellar covers for posterity for the Newyorker pantheon. The gnome is the moral epicenter that makes this work truly exceptional for me. Thank you for creating this one!
